February Favourites

Hey guys, it’s been a hot minute but I am back and ready to share some of my February favourites with you all! It’s a bit delayed for sure but this month has just been super busy for me, so I hope you understand. As always feel free to leave any comments or questions below because I do love hearing from you all! So without any further ado, let’s just get right into this shall we? First on the list is one of the most amazing foundations ever…

1. Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation

I got mine in shade 5.5

I knew I was going to love this foundation before I bought it just from what I’d read about it online. I’ve been a fan of the Luminous Silk Foundation but I always thought that it needed just a bit more coverage for me to able to wear it on a night out or something like that. The glow you get from it is like no other foundation, of course, but it wasn’t without its downsides. Enter this new makeup! The weird name aside (power fabric?), this foundation is simply perfect. It’s full coverage and leaves a lovely velvet matte, lightweight second skin finish so it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin.

Once you apply this foundation, the texture melts into the skin and blurs out any imperfections. It also has an SPF 25 filter and protects against UVA and UVB rays, so it’s the perfect makeup to bring with you if you’re going on holidays!

I’ve used this a few times now and to be honest, I won’t be going back to the Luminous Silk. This has me completely sold and I’m just so happy with the flawless finish this leaves me with. I usually dot this around my face using my fingers and then blend it out with my trusted beauty blender. Try it out for yourself just to see how amazing your skin can look.

The Cons:

-Price. As with any Armani product, the price point is a major con. This one comes in at €49.00 which makes it slightly more expensive than the Luminous one (which retails at €46.50). You can shop it online here or grab it in your local Brown Thomas.

The Pros:

-Coverage. This is unlike any other! I have dark circles, spots and discolouration and this masks it all. The best part? You only need a small, light layer to get the full effect from this.

-Design. I do love foundation that comes in a pump. It’s just that bit more hygienic and you use far less product in the long run (so it’s a lot better on the pocket too!)

-Texture. This glides on so easily and it’s easy to blend out. I actually bought a shade up from my natural colour in this because I wanted to wear it when I had some tan on. But I have worn this on more than one occasion just casually during the day and have had no problems blurring it in such a way that my skin doesn’t appear too dark without my typical tan.

All in all, I do recommend this product to anyone who wants a decent, full coverage foundation. Even if you’re not a fan of the Giorgio Armani collection, try this one out. It’s a cut above the rest for sure.

2. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Compact

I got mine in shade 4.5 light neutral

Ooooh another Armani product? Yes, but trust me, these two work so well together! I got this because I thought that it would give me a nice glow over the matte makeup, and boy it did not disappoint. It’s a gorgeous little compact and inside it has two separate compartments, one where the powder goes and just under that is a little section for the sponge. It comes in at €46.00 which is steep but it’s the perfect product to finish off any makeup look and if you want to check it out online, you can do so here.

I use this for many different reasons. After I put on my concealer, I like to use a good dab of this under my eyes to really lock in the eye product. It helps to prevent everything creasing and keeps my makeup looking fresher for longer. As well as that, I like to sweep this all across my face, particularly on my forehead where my foundation usually tends to slip down. The powder fills in any areas that I may have missed and it provides an additional layer, making for flawless looking skin. It’s lovely to have matte skin, but that tends to look very unrealistic in person. So this powder helps to combat that in a way, giving it a nice, healthy looking finish. Perfect!

The Cons:

-Size. It’s a pity that the pan isn’t bigger because I can see myself racing through this one. But for me, it’s still worth it.

-Case. Unfortunately, the compact case needs to be bought separately to the powder. But once you have the case, you can just get the powder refills to slot in.

The Pros:

-Shades. For a compact powder, it does have a good variety of different colours so you’re sure to find one that will suit your everyday foundation as well.

-Texture. It’s buttery and doesn’t leave a chalky feeling on the skin.

-Coverage. This gives a nice medium coverage so you could actually get away with wearing this powder on its own if you wanted to go for a nice, light look. It’s very buildable so with two coats of this you’d be good to go.

I’d usually apply this with a brush but the compact it comes with is pretty good too. It’s dual-sided and washable so you can keep using it over and over again. Use the beige side to apply a sheer layer of powder to set foundation and eliminate any shine. The black side can be used then if you’re looking for higher coverage, making it perfect for touch-ups.

3. L’Oreal Falsh Lash Telescopic Mascara

An oldie but a goldie

This mascara has been around awhile but it’s proven hard to beat. I got this again recently only because I came across it as I was browsing through Boots. I’d forgotten how good it was until I popped it on again and my what a difference a good mascara makes!

In terms of how it goes on, the wand is very soft and flexible which makes it nice to apply. The brush is quite thin compared to other drug store products, and it’s square shape makes it easy to apply to the base of the lashes. The bristles are nicely spaced apart and it’s probably one of the best mascaras that I’ve ever come across for separating the fine hairs. No clumping which is great! To top it all off, it’s pretty cheap too coming in at €16.99. Get it here!

The Cons:

-None. There kind of aren’t any when it comes to this, it’s a total win-win.

The Pros:

-Effect. It lengthens the lashes and splits the hairs to give full coverage and a luscious look. What’s not to love?

Try it out for yourself and you’ll be amazed at what a hidden gem this mascara is. Well, that’s all I have time for today but I hope you enjoyed this post. Stay in touch because I’ll be back very soon with some more cool products! Until then…
