Hey all you lovely folk! I hope your December is going well so far. Christmas is only around the corner and that means nights out, celebrations and all out glamour- it really is the best time of year. And a crazy one too for sure.
I’ve been kept pretty busy lately between work and the odd bit of socialising so I feel I’ve neglected you all a small bit but fear not! I’m back with, if nothing else, some amazing shoe candy. That is… some really nice shoes I spotted while out on a shopping spree in Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin. So if you want to know how I pulled this little look all together for a special night out (see below), keep on reading.
On “date night” it’s always nice to wear a dress and on this occasion I was being taken out for a lovely meal so I wanted to put that extra bit of effort in. It is the festive season so I may have been indulging in one too many cupcakes over the past while but after finding this dress, I have to say I felt quite comfortable and happy with how it looked! It hid a multitude of sins and it wasn’t too bad on the purse either.
So where did I get this gem? I actually found this dress in River Island and when I first picked it up it didn’t seem all that special. It was only when I tried it on that I realised how nice it was. So that’s a little tip for you guys there; if you find something that you like the idea of but it looks a little drab on the hanger, try it on anyway because it may surprise you when it’s on your own body. At just €37.00, it was a bargain.
It’s made of a soft touch fabric that just fits around you in the style of a body con. The double cami strap neckline adds that bit of dimension and the ruched detail on the side of the dress is very flattering. With an asymmetric hem to top it all off, it makes for the perfect party dress this season. If you think the black is a bit dull, opt for the light pink instead.
For shoes, because the dress is quite open, I wanted to keep it classy and simple. Korkys have a great selection at the moment so I decided to team this dress with some faux suede stiletto heels. Probably not the most comfortable but when they come in at just €39.99, you can’t really go too far wrong. I am someone who is a huge fan of closed, pointed toe high heels so moving away from that this time was a bit exciting for me. Not usually the biggest fan of my own feet but I did feel pretty elegant strutting around in those bad boys.
And for makeup? Well, I used a few newbies as well as some oldies…
I wanted to have overall dramatic makeup because I knew it needed to last the whole night so to start with I used my new Guerlain L’Or Radiance Face Primer. I’ve mentioned this before, if you haven’t tried it out yet, do! After that I used my usual Vichy Dermablend Foundation in Nude as well as my Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer.
For the eyes, I mixed my three favourite palettes. (Kylie Cosmetics Bronze/ Burgundy palettes as well as the Morphe 35O to give an all round golden smoky eye). I topped it all off with heavy winged black eyeliner and some sharp eyebrows.
Needless to say, I had a great night out and I felt really good so this dress is definitely a keeper. Would you have worn this differently or do you completely stay away from the standard LBD? Feel free to let me know in the comments below and I’ll chat to you all really soon!
